Harper and Kane got what they wanted, but there was a price to pay. Adam and Beth might not know why their relationship fell apart, but that doesn't mean they won't find out. And Kaia isn't quite finished stirring up trouble, even if she has some other issues to deal with.

Meanwhile, Miranda has a plan of her own. After everything that's happened, she's done with games.

There's only one way this can end--and not everyone can win.

Where there's Pride, there's Wrath, and no one is safe from sin...

Review:
WOW! What a way to dive right into the second volume of this sizzling series. I mean cliffhangers galore going on in not one but both books! All of the craziness never seems to stray far from these characters at Haven High. If it's not one thing, it's the other.

So the story starts off a couple months after the last book, where inevitably, Harper and Adam are now together, and Beth and Kane are a couple as well. Kaia seems to be having some sort of romance/fling going on for herself with possibly more than one character... ;) The only person who seems to be truly alone is Miranda, which you do get to see more of, and get to know her character a lot more as an individual rather than a side kick to Harper.

You get a sense in this novel that they are all publicly in love with who they are with, but behind closed doors there is some sort of tension going on. Everyone hates each other because of something that never really happened, and yet it still drives them apart. I mean when Adam went and sucker punched Kane right outside of the restaurant leaving him on the ground, while Beth is shocked at the fact that Adam never let her tell the truth or hear her side of the story whatsoever, it's crazy to believe, that even the most "perfect" relationships tend to fall from their high horse some time.

I do get that old habits die hard when it comes to some of the characters. I mean if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck...then it must be a damn duck! Sometimes you can hide who you truly are to most people, but at the end of the day, those who truly know you will know what you're capable of and if they stick by you, it's worth having them in your life.

Kaia has always been a mystery, and I get the feeling that she is really hiding something big about her. I know that when she started her fling with Mr. Powell, they had to keep it under raps. Weirdly enough, I get a strange feeling about Mr. British Hot-throb in the sense, that he has done this before, and possibly has more of a possessive- aggressive side to him. When Reed comes into the picture, all you can think is "Why would someone go for a guy like him?" but truth be told, I know that he would do anything for her and she obviously has more of a connection and comfortable feeling while she is with him. When there's butterflies, and you know you can be your true self...Then he is THE ONE!

Kaia really has to make a decision between someone who makes her laugh, and can be herself around versus someone who is popular, socially higher ranking than the other, and looks good both on paper and in public. Ghast! Which to choose for the girl who is all about looks and name brands....Or so you think.

When it comes to the characters, I feel like Beth and Adam are more suited for each other as well as Kane and Harper. You can see that they both have their own issues, but overall they compliment each other.

While reading this, I did get some of a Mean Girls vibe going on. If you have read this I think you'll understand what I mean when I say "Blood red paper" it just didn't go exactly according to plan, for the people involved.

Off to a little side note, going into the parents of the characters--mainly Kaia's dad--I find that he is such an ASS! pardon my language, but seriously, how can you stand in front of your daughter you see maybe once a month (even though she is living with you) and tell her she shouldn't be "with this trash" meaning Reed. How can he stand there and talk about the guy as if he was worthless. Not a good move in my books! Reed is WAY better the Mr. Powell!!

Overall I really liked this book, and towards the middle and more in the end we dive into some mystery, which I really liked. It just ads more into the novel, to make it better overall. There was a big cliffhanger at the end, and I'm glad to have the third one right beside me, ready to dive right in and see how the ending of this series goes. Robin Wasserman is a great author, and I really like her writing style. The fact that each character is in POV, but also connects to the other in more ways than one (Not just story, but beginning of sentences connect) is just amazing!

Some questions I think about at the end of this novel is:

  • Who was driving?
  • What happens to Mr. Powell?
  • And who is this creeper watching Kaia?

And here we go, at the end of this review. I really hope you enjoy reading these, and they give you recommendations for new reads to have in your TBR.
So until then, Keep Reading!
