Summary:
Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania: population two thousand outside of tourist season.

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed attempt at a relationship, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has saved: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works.

For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. What begins as an immediate friendship quickly turns into something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something that Catherine is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

Review
First I really want to thank the amazing people over at Simon and Schuster Canada for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review. Although It's been delayed, I am so incredibly happy that I took my time with this book, although I totally could have read the entire thing in a day! This was honestly a book that had all the feels, while also giving you that fantasy of a celebrity falling in love with just an "ordinary" person.

So I know you may be cringing at me through the screen, but I've never read a book by K.A. Tucker before even though I OWN MOST of her books! How is this possible you ask? Have you seen my TBR?!! I must say though, this was definitely an entertaining novel to read!

While I was reading this story, I honestly couldn't get enough of Catherine. Although I wish that there was a little bit more coming from both characters, I did really like how much of a struggle/ back history you get of her life and how it all came about to what it is now. The connection between Catherine and Brett were really cute and sweet, so I totally could have had the steam-o-meter going up a tad bit more considering they are both adults who clearly have some pent up issues.

The strain that Catherine has between her parents was probably something that I'm sure many people can relate to in one way or another. I'm not saying directly that people can have the same life as hers, but we all have parents that at one point or another did something along the length that Catherine's did. As the novel goes on though, you really do see the relationship kind of make a different path, and it was really interesting to see characters pop up that somehow make a little difference with Catherine's growth.

Alright so there was a little twist type of thing (because clearly I'm describing this perfectly...) that happens more towards the end of the novel, and I really wanted MORE! I felt like it could have been dragged out a tad bit more and could have made more of an impact on all of the characters in a way I was hoping it would!

Moving onto the dynamic of Catherine and her daughter. OH MY FEELS! As a teacher, I guess some of these feelings come out naturally, but man I just LOVED her daughter!! Not only were there some super adorable moments between every single male in the novel, but just the way she was written in the book made my heart swell!

Throughout the novel there was plenty of Toronto/Canadian talk, and I loved it! I mean it only makes sense, and the fact of featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs in a way that I'm sure many fans would have wished for in real life made the novel even better!

I haven't really read a sports romance even though I own many of them (again TBR) but I quite enjoyed reading all of it. Better than sitting in front of the TV while listening your spouse/parent drone on about how it's played...

So some quotes that really stuck out for me, kind of made me think a lot about life, love and heartache.

"Whatever this is, that's growing between us. It's intense and fast moving, that much I know. And I expected no less, no in between with him, no casualness, not after what we've been through together."

"And now you've become a permanent fixture in my thoughts, despite my every attempt to distance myself."

"A person can tell you he loves you one day and tell you that you need to move on the next. He can be everything to you, and then a mere memory."

"He has what I would call "soul-searching" eyes. They meet yours, but they don't just look at you. They look into you, delving deeper, beyond the layers and guises, to uncover who you are at your core."

Overall I really did enjoy this book. There were so many sweet, and swoon-worthy moments that I couldn't get enough of them! I do just wish that there was a bit more between them to make it even better! Catherine really did go through a lot, and you see her strength burning right from the beginning. You see how she made her life happen, and pushed through all of the negativity to give her daughter the best life she could. She had a great support system from those at the Diner and Keith, as well as the empowerment she had within. She fought with herself and others for a while, before she realized that she never had to do it all alone. The amount of love that flowed through, really made it great!

That's all for my review of Until It Fades! I hope you liked it!

So until the next time, Keep Reading!!
Your Graduated Bookworm! :)
